Korean young talent Myung Woo Cho the star player in Lausanne Masters

LAUSANNE - On the first day of the Lausanne Billard Masters, this year's tournament featuring eight under-25 players from four confederations, the Asian pair made the best start. Myung Woo Cho (24), three-time world junior champion and the other Korean Juk Hyuk Son (18) beat the US team 50-17 in 32 innings. The European team with Nikolaus Kogelbauer (20) and Mustafa Muhemmed Kilic (23) also won its first game: 50-47 in 75 innings against Africa.

The four teams (Asia, Europe, America and Africa), all play against each other in games to 50 points, first in relays to 15 and 30 points, then in a Scotch Double to the last 20 points, playing point by point. The venue is the well known Casino Monbenon in Lausanne. The first day of play was on Friday 18 November, today, Saturday, continues with the group matches, on Sunday are the final rounds.

Playing for Africa, which also lost its second match against America, are Mahmoud Ayman (23) and George Kyrollos (22). The Americans have in their line-up Cristian Henao (19) and Camilo Galvis (21). The main prize is 6000 euros, the number 2 gets 4000, the 3rd team 2000 and the number 4 is still rewarded with 1000 euros.
