Battle for the title in Dutch play-offs

KAPELLE - Four top teams from the Dutch league wil compete this weekend (starting tomorrow, June 1) in the playoffs for the team championship after TOVV.nl/MCR a few weeks ago won the cup. The tournament is played in the Vroone in Kapelle.
 
The defending champion, Van Donge and De Roo with Dick Jaspers, Martin Horn, Torbjörn Blomdahl and Jean van Erp, has withdrawn from the league last year. Frans Bevers from Sluiskil, TOVV.nl/MCR from Vlaardingen, DBL Holland Mineraal from Lochem and A1 Biljarts from Apeldoorn battle for gold after a long and exciting marathon of matches in the league.

The question is: will it be the revenge for Frans Bevers, the team that finished first in the league and now can perform with Frédéric Caudron as there leader? The team is aiming high in his own region after the unfortunate tournament for the cup. Or will TOVV.nl/MCR, with another Belgian leader, Eddy Merckx, win the double after the victory in the cup?

But also: what's A1 Biljarts going to do? Can the team play an important role in the undoubtedly high quality competition with four? And do'nt forget that DBL Holland Mineraal had a fantastic final of the competition. The team can perform in het strongest line-up in Kapelle now Stefan Galla has recovered from illness.

The playoffs are played in the beautiful arena of De Vroone according to the system of a double meeting in the semifinals. Frans Bevers and A1 Bijarts play on Friday (from 13.00) against each other, TOVV.nl/MCR faces DBL Holland Mineraal in two encounters on Saturday.

There will be great matches undoubtedly, Frédéric Caudron-Michael Nilsson, Eddy Leppens-Dion Nelin, Jean-Paul de Bruijn-Raimond Burgman and Glenn Hoffman-Martien van der Spoel in the opening match.

On the second day Eddy Merckx meets Murat Naci Coklu in a double, Dave Christiani plays against Anno de Kleine, Frans van Kuyk against Stefan Galla and Richard Bitalis against Jelle Pijl.

On Sunday, June 3 at 11 am, both winners meet each other and the final matches are at 15.00 and 17.00.
