MUNICH - The general meeting of the German billiards federation DBU has decided to stop the three cushion team competition. BC Munich has officially been proclaimed bundesliga champion. The meeting took place at the Volkshaus Röhlinghausen von Herne and was preceded by a opinion poll about the future of the season. The Sports Council proposed to change the season to the calendar year (January 1 - December 31). The reactions of the clubs varied: no decision for the season format could be made yet.

DBU chairman Helmut Biermann said: "In this current situation, there is no decision to be taken with which everyone is satisfied." About the new start of the competitions: "Nobody can say that at this moment. First it must be possible to play again in all regional federations. We sincerely hope that we can start the season on schedule." BC Munich, the number one on the rankings, qualified for the European Cup 2021. The runner-up is BC International Berlin, third is the dethroned defending champion BC Magdeburg, which says farewell to Jaspers, but continues with Danish Dion Nelin as the leader.

Despite that uncertain start, BC Stuttgart has already announced the new team for the Bundesliga. Main sponsor Gürhan Kabak has attracted Dick Jaspers, the number one in the world, for the new season. The Dutchman will lead the team and wants to play all matches in which he has no international events. Tayfun Tasdemir and Torsten Frings, who returned to billiards after one year, are the most known players. The team also consists of Ramazan Durdu, Lukas Stamm and Gürhan Kabak. Gökhan Salman and Can Cabak are available as substitutes. That line-up makes BC Stuttgart one of the top favourites for the title in the bundesliga.
