The Turkish owner and sponsor Caner Temel had to withdraw his team from the league

TURNHOUT - The Belgian team competition three cushion must continue in the highest league without the Masters team from Turnhout. Caner Temel, the sponsor and team boss, has immediately withdrawn from the competition due to lack of players and a disagreement with the manager of the locality. The ranking is adjusted, because the two matches for the second half will no longer count. The leader, Deurne, had to play against Masters this week, but the match was canceled.

The main league will continue with eleven teams, which means one team has a free round every week. The Masters team showed up with players like John Tijssens, Ronny Lindemann, Volkan Cetin and the leading player Ismaël Yasin last year. The club was founded in 2016 by 44-year-old Caner Temel. The club is now called Masters Biljart Club, has its clubhouse in Café Kruishuis, but previously played in Mol under the name Molse Biljart Academie. The current team was in last place in the ranking with 4 points.

Temel regrets that the club had to withdraw. ''We had a lack of players after an unfortunate period. John Tijssens underwent a heart surgery, Ronny Lindemann wanted to be in reserve because his wife was expecting a baby and Werner Ooyen and Sven van Orshagen withdrew later. Moreover, there were problems with the manager. I am the chairman, sponsor and I arrange the sponsorship, so I had no choice but to quit the league."

John Tijssens says: ,,We are a little surprised, but I want to emphasize that we had a great boss in our cafe, who set up two new match tables two years ago and who was an excellent host for the players during the match days. It is a pity that we ran into troubles and that we have to retreat now."

BC Deurne retains, after this 14th round, one point ahead of Biljart Express and two points of Op de Meir, which lost one point in the away match against Mr. 100 Lier 1. Peter Ceulemans again played an excellent game: the best of this round with a win over Barry van Beers: 50-26 in 19. Kurt Ceulemans was the better of Roland Uijtdewillegen 50-25 in 31. Peter De Backer signed for the best on average for his team against Raymond Ceulemans: 42-25 in 22 (1,909).

Eddy Merckx was the strong leading man for Biljart Express with a win over Martin Horn: 50-24 in 20. Biljart Express achieved the maximum profit thanks to Frans van Kuyk (1,923), Gerwin Valentijn and Martin Spoormans with a 1,535 on team average. The team De Ploeg did just a little less with 1,496 after victories by Jef Philipoom (50 in 30), Jack Wijnen (50 in 29), Therese Klompenhouwer, 42 in 26, a wonderful 1,516 and Eddy Willems (42 in 38).

De Witte Molen and De Leug played a 4-4 draw. KBC Kortrijk continues the great series of matches with a 6-2 victory in the derby over KBC Brugse. Only Bart Leys beat Dave Christiani for the Bruges team 50-48 in 51 innings. Ronny Brants shone for Kortrijk with 1,666 on average.
