Bernd SInger (GER) is back on track !

The German player Bernd Singer suprised everybody by beating the former European Champion Xavier Fonellosa from Spain. In a thrilling five sets, being behind two sets to zero, it was Singer who qualified second in his group, right behind Sander Jonen.

Bernd Singer - Xavier Fonellosa 50-68, 32-49, 40-35, 69-65, 50-39.

Bernd Singer is not a well known player but has a history, years ago (during the times ivory balls were used) he was ranked within the Top 8 of the European Leaderboard. For whatever reason he said goodbye to the Artistic game but got hungry again a few years ago. "A remarkable comeback, but not very surprising", according to Sander Jonen (NED), "we all knew what he's capable of, but only during the ivory period".

At the moment groups C & D are playing their last matches, there are four tickets left into the quarterfiinals. Haci Arap Yaman (TUR) and Thomas Ahrens (GER) are already qualified. For Erik Vijverberg (NED) and Kevin Tran (FRA) the tournament is over, they are postioned last within their group....empty-handed.

T1 Jean Reverchon (FRA) - Walter Bax (BEL)

T2 Hajime Watanabe (JPN) - Martin van Rhee (NED)

T3 Erik Vijverberg (NED) - Thomas Ahrens (GER)

T4 Kevin Tran (FRA) - Haci Arap Yaman (TUR)

The quarterfinals will start at 1800 hours, schedule to follow.
