HURGHADA - The Czech player Ivo Gazdos and German Ralf Lenz advanced with only two match points for the next round the World Cup. The Greek Dionisis Tsokantas slipped through the back door, taking the vacant place of Dutchman Barry van Beers as first reserve player.

Selim Özden was second day's best player with 1.935 average, Ralf Lenz qualified as number sixteen with an extremely poor 0.459. Many players in the lower regions did much better like Yavuz Güngördü (1.166) and Alexander Weiss 0.905.
The Austrian Alfred Nebada was not that bad with 0.928 average, but with only one match point he was the number 35 on the ranking of 48 players.

On top of the ranking were the star players of the day. The Turk Selim Özden took four match points and 1.935, German Johan Schirmbrand four match points and 1.500.

Ivo Gazdos escaped in his second match from the shutdown, including a run of eleven, two match points and 1.020 average.
