SINT NIKLAAS - The team Biljart Express, with its new leading playar Eddy Merckx is on top of the Belgian ranking three cushion. Martin Spoormans, one of the regular players in the team, had to go back far in his memory to remember Biljart Express for the last time in the lead. De Turnhout team defeated De Witte Molen on Tuesday-evening in an away match 8-0. BC Deurne lost one point against Mr. 100. Op de Meir, is like BC Deurne, after a victory over BC Herentals (6-2), one point behind the leader. Eddy Leppens was the best player of this fifth match day with a victory over Martin Horn: 50-26 in 16 with a final run of 14.

Biljart Express had a difficult start in three of the four matches against De Witte Molen, but had a better final sprint. Eddy Merckx ran up to 20 with Pierre Soumagne and finished it off 50-33 in 39 innings. Frans van Kuyk was trailing 27-24 against Francis Forton and reached the finish line with 7-4-4-6-2. Gerwin Valentijn faced a strong Dirk Weeremans, who made 8 and 11 in the first ten innings. In the chase, the Dutchman took the match 42-34 in 25. Martin Spoorman was behind against Ad Broeders after the start, came back with 6 and 8 and hit the gap with a run of 9: 42-29 in 26.

BC Deurne made a half misstep at Mr. 100, partly because Glenn Hoffman was defeated by Peter Ceulemans 50-46 in 31. Jef Philipoom was the best winner beating Kurt Ceulemans 50-28 in 22. KBC Kortrijk is in an excellent fifth after the 6-2 win in the away match against Zanzibar. Roland Forthomme was the only winner for his team against Dave Christiani, 50-26 in 20. Ronny Brants, Martin Ravestyn and Frédéric Beghin earned the points for Kortrijk.

BC De Ploeg won his second game point in five games and is now the last on the ranking with De Witte Molen. De Goeie Queue played an away match against De Ploeg, because its own club house, De Salpho, is closed. De Ploeg was happy with the draw which it took by Therese Klompenhouwer who beat Maarten Janssen with two final runs of 5 (42-36 in 40) and Jack Wijnen beating Jean Paul de Bruijn (50-38 in 37). Caudron won in 31 innings against Geysen, Hermans in 24 innings against Willems.

The top of the ranking:
1 Biljart Express 5-9
2 Op de Meir 5-8
3 BC Deurne 5-8
4 Kortrijk 5-6
5 Mr 100 5-6.
