Two Frenchmen are going to duel with Dave Christiani for a place in the final qualifying round, Luis Avallon, the surprise of yesterday, who meets the Spaniard Enrique José Torrisco now, to substitutes of Monday who survived the round on Tuesday, Peter Ceulemans who will find the Italian Emilio Sciacca on his path and Haeng Jik Kim, the junior world champion, who's in the same group as Dutchman Barry van Beers.
On the third day of the World Cup a lot of top players come to the tables trying to qualify for the final round: on Friday morning the main event starts in the Centro de Congresses e Desportos de Matosinhos. Everyone who wants to take part to the high mass in three cushion, will have to perform at top level now.

Joao Pedro Ferreira starred in his last match with 1.428 average. Jorge Fernandez Alipio was seeded with 0.738 average and Therese Klompenhouwer with two victories after her two wins a day before. She faces the Austrian Oswald Luksch and Vietnamese Xuan Cuong Ma today.
