ANDERNOS - The debut of Filipos Kasidokostas in the French league is not a sparkling success so far. The Greek is still not the team leader who helps Kozoom to victories against the top teams in the major division. Kozoom suffered a heavy defeat in his own house against Laxou tonight (1-7). Kasidokostas was one of the three losers in the team. Torbjörn Blomdahl won the top match of the evening 50-39.
The Swede owed the victory for the Orange team in the first place to two runs in a crucial phase of the match. He ran away from Kasidokostas with nine and later on, when the Greek had closed the gap, Blomdahl attacked again with twelve to a 38-27 lead.
That was in fact the decision, because in the remaining innings Kasidokostas could not reach the shape he occasionally showed in the Agipi Masters last weekend. Even his fearsome end rushes left him in the lurch.
The pressure after the break was to high for Kozoom. Martin Horn defeated in an outstanding match with a run of twelve Fréderic Mottet. The Belgian by the way certainly made a good impress: he finished only four caroms behind his opponent. The German closed the match in 29 innings (50-46).
Bernard Baudoin restrained at the other table before the break Pierre Soumagne in a match which for the young Frenchman was well below his level. The battle lasted fifty innings and ended with a score of 50-50.
In the second half Laxou increased the lead by the victory of Blomdahl. Thierry Amar gathered the last points for Laxou beating Jean-Pierre Lacaze 50-30 in 38 innings.
