The winner Can Capak after a strong performance in Ankara

ANKARA - Two new names were in the final at the second Grand Prix in the battle for the Turkish championship, which was played at the Turkish Federation Centre in Ankara. Can Çapak and Berkay Karakurt were in the final in front of a big audience on the screens of TRT Sport Yıldız and on billiards.com.tr. Çapak was the winner. A total of 574 players participated in the tournament. Can Capak beat Berkay Karakurt 40-31 in 29 innings (1,379-1,107).

The champion won the semi-final against Semih Saygıner 40-26 in 23 innings and left his mark on the final. Capak eliminated his strong opponents one by one on his way to victory. He won in the quarter-finals against Tayfun Taşdemir 40-22 in 19 innings. In the last 16 he beat Ömer Karakurt 40-36 in 32. Champion Can Çapak expressed his feelings with the following words: ''It is a pleasure and pride to be the champion in the first tournament in our new facility. It was a hard fight with a busy schedule. Many thanks to my sponsors and everyone who supported me.''

The other finalist, Berkay Karakurt, impressed by winning in the semi-finals vs Tolgahan Kiraz 40-32 in 25 innings with a run of 12. Karakurt beat his master Lütfi Cenet in the quarter-finals 40-36 in 25 innings. In the match with the best 16 he beat Gökhan Salman 40-38 in 19.

In the quarter-finals Yılmaz Özcan lost to Tolgahan Kiraz 40-36 in 26 innings. Yavuz Güngördü lost 40-14 in 14 innings to Semih Saygıner. Sayginer scored a brilliant run of 18 in this match. Tayfun Taşdemir beat Murat Naci Çok 40-25 in 18.

The official opening ceremony of the facility of the Turkish billiard federation, which was built in the Gölbaşı district of Ankara, also took place during the tournament.
