LOVENDEGEM - The Belgian league has only one leader left, after KBC Zanzibar lost a point against BC Kasteeldreef last night. Frédéric Caudron and Eddy Leppens with their wins in Kasteeldreef lifted the match to a 4-4 score. Caudron defeated Roland Forthomme 50-33 in 28 innings with a run of eleven. Leppens won 50-30 in 31 innings against Dave Christiani. Jimmy Mues and Paul Stroobants gathered the point for Zanzibar.

The tension remains at the top, but BC Deurne raised his advantage with one point by a victory over BC Quality Zele. In that match Jef Philipoom was the very best man. ,,I had to make up something after my descent from Dick Jaspers on Sunday in the Netherlands'' Jefke said after he had nailed Jean Paul de Bruijn to his chair: 50-14 in 19 innings.

Eddy Merckx and Ludo Dielis secured victory in Deurne with wins against Peter de Backer and Patrick Kesteloot. Merckx needed 29 innings to reach the finish.

The subtopper in the competition, Kon. Kortrijkse, took the full win in the home match with Biljart Express, BC Geox Herentals gathered one point against Mr 100 Lier. Ronny Brants, who lost his shape after the Belgian championship, was beaten by Frans van Kuik (50-33) but Henk Blauwblomme and two French players Richard Bitalis (run of eleven) and Cedric Melnytschenko took the wins.

Peter Ceulemans defeated Dion Nelin including a run of ten: 50-45 in 29 innings. Christian Rudolph won for Geox his match with Kurt Ceulemans, but Raymond once again showed his very high class by beating Leon Smolders with an average of 1.448 and the highest run of the day in Belgium: thirteen!!! For the maestro it was a nice boost after a couple of weeks in which he didn't play so well.

Martin Horn was the best man for BC De Ploeg playing against Wim van Cromvoirt. The German won 50-41 in 27, with an average of 1.851 and a run of nine. Allan Jensen and Bart Ceulemans gathered the other match points for De Ploeg, that beat Op de Meir 6-2.
