Frédéric Caudron defeated Roland Forthomme with 3.333 in his opening match.

SCHILTIGHEIM - The Agipi team is rescued by his two starplayers after a false start. Frédéric Caudron and Marco Zanetti entered the tournament for the European Cup with two high class matches: the Belgian with an average of 3333, his Italian teammate with 2857.

The first match in the tournament ended in a tie (4-4), but with a big margin in caroms for Agipi. Jérôme Barbeillon (against Jérémy Bury) and Francis Connesson (against Jean Christoph Roux) took an eight caroms advantage in the first session. Frédéric Caudron won 40-15 in twelve innings against Roland Forthomme, Marco Zanetti defeated Peter De Backer in the final sprint with a run of six: 40-31 in 14 innings.

Therefor Agipi was 26 caroms ahead in this meeting.

Frédéric Caudron attacked against his compatriot Forthomme early in the match with a run of ten (21-8) and later sprinted with eight to a 32-12 backlog. For his last eight points he needed only three innings.

Marco Zanetti passed Peter De Backer with a run of ten to 21-17. The Italian went throuh the clock at 25-25, saw De Backer score three points from the break off, but then took the match in his hands and finished 40-31 in 14.
