LAUSANNE - Torbjörn Blomdahl and Dick Jaspers had already qualified for the semi-finals in the Lausanne Billard Masters with two victories. Frédéric Caudron and Marco Zanetti are their opponents in the evening matches, tonight at 21.30.
The winner of the first edition of the prestigious Swiss tournament will be one of the heavyweights in the world of three cushion: one of four former world champions who were invited for the tournament.
Dick Jaspers and Torbjörn Blomdahl face each other in the final group match (15.30), the winner of this game is the top finisher in the group. He will play against Marco Zanetti tonight, the loser against Frédéric Caudron.
The Belgian had a flawless start of the preliminaries with victories in 14 innings (against Zanetti) and 23 innings (Boulaz), but stumbled in his last match over Jérémy Bury, who closed the group as third and despite his victory against Caudron (40-29 in 28) is outplayed.
Caudron finished just a fraction ahead of Zanetti, who defeated Michel Boulaz in his last group match 40-12 in 23.
The two teammates in the Agipi team almost ended up with the same points and innings. Caudron made 109 caroms in 65 innings (1.677), Zanetti finished with 110 caroms in 67 innings (1,642).
Dick Jaspers bested in his two encounters in the other group both Martin Horn as Rene Hendriksen in 20 innings and has therefore 2.000 average overall. Torbjörn Blomdahl beat Horn in his second match (40-28 in 18) and averages 1.904.
Caudron is the only player so far with a run over ten (12).
