Caudron-Soumagne and Niessen-Mata in semis

The Spaniard Esteve Mata is one of the four semi finalists in 47/2.

HAARLO - Frédéric Caudron is the only player who finished unbeaten in the preliminary rounds of the balkline 47/2. The Belgian won his three matches in group A, however the first against Braham Djoubri with only two points ahead. Caudron then defeated in the second round Esteve Mata 300-98 in three innings and Xavier Gretillat 300-119 in three.

Caudron ended up in his group with an average of 64.28 and a highest run of 298. Esteve Mata won two matches and had a general average of  58.16 and just like Caudron a highest run of 298.

Djoubri could only impress with a victory against Gretillat, in his match against Esteve Mata he finished with 4 caroms in 3 innings.

Frédéric Caudron will play in the semifinals, tomorrow (on Saturday) at 15.00, against Pierre Soumagne, the number two in Group B. The winner of this group was Patrick Niessen, the man who showed the best technique on the balklines until now. He was only defeated in the last round of the preliminary by Arnim Kahofer (300-230 in six innings, but was seeded for the semifinal with four match points and the highest average of all players: 75.45.

Pierre Soumagne ended with 58.45 after two matches win and a big defeat against Niessen (300-43 in 2 innings).
