Colmar the better of Morangis in France

Colmar's team after its win over Morangis

COLMAR - The French team Colmar has taken its last chance to reach the finals of the team championship. Without its leading player Murat Naci Coklu, the Parisians of Morangis Cyllene were beaten 6-2. Andreas Efler surprisingly defeated Ruben Legazpi, Jean Haby and Jérôme Riotto took the match points against Jean Christophe Roux and Jean Reverchon. Peter Ceulemans was the only player who scored for Morangis.

The A-group, in which because of the withdrawal of La Baule, three teams meet in a double competition, is led by Kozoom with 4 match points out of two matches. Colmar and Morangis have two points out of three games.

In the first session, Jérôme Riotto faced Jean Reverchon and Dany Boutet played Peter Ceulemans. Riotto took from the initiative from the start: 10-1 in 4, 20-4 in 10 at the break. Reverchon came back by a run of 11 and even led 37-33 after 26 innings, but Riotto with 1 and 6 finished the match: 40-37 in 28.

Peter Ceulemans had a good start and put Boutet on a 25-14 margin in 17. Boutet's come-back did not last long, the Belgian made his last ten points with twice 5: 40-27 in 29.

Efler and Legazpi went straight until the Austrian started the attack and led 26-17 in 21. He kept the margin to the end: 40-33 in 31. Jean Haby had the better final sprint against Jean Christophe Roux at the last table : 40-37 in 28.

Colmar achieved 1,195 on average, Morangis 1,187.
