Czech team beats French in final Holiday inn Cup Brno

BRNO - The second team of Czech, with Marek Faus and Pavel Böhm, is the surprising winner of the Holiday Inn Brno Cup. The final in this tournament, that was hold for the first time with six teams of two players, was played today between Czech and France. The disciplins in which the players met each other were cadre 47/2 and one cushion.

Marek Faus beat in one cushion Pierre Soumagne in the final game 120-69 in 14 innings. Pavel Böhm saved the victory by beating Brahim Djoubri in cadre 200-108 with a run of 144 and an average of 33.33.

The Czech team reached the final round by beating the Netherlands in the semis. Pavel Böhm sparkled in his match against Raymund Swertz with a run of 200 from the break shot. The Dutchman totalised 166 point in 1 inning. Marek Faus on the other table beat Michel van Silfhout in one cushion (120-64 in 7 innings).

The French team grasped the win in the semis against Austria. Armin Kahofer played very well in 47/2 by beating Brahim Djoubri 200-89 in only 3 innings, earlyer in the tournament he finished in one inning against Pavel Böhm.

Kahofer against the French team made a run of 103, Djoubri of 73. Pierre Soumagne rescued the French by beating good old Frans Stenzel 120-56 in one cushion. France reached the final on caramboles after a calculation in coefficients.

The system of the tournament was simple: six teams played in two groups, the two first teams played in the semi finals. The teams which were eliminated in the qualification round were Germany with Blondeel and Nockemann and the first team of Czech with Racek and Baca.
