Dani Sánchez continues his Guri form: ,,I feel this is my best form ever.''

MÜNCHEN - The debut of Dani Sánchez in the German bundesliga was hailed with all the superlatives in three cushion: sensational, supernatural, world class and a miraculous level. Those were the most common qualifications. The double performance of the Spaniard, this weekend in the Munich team, made an unforgettable impression.

Dani Sánchez made his 40 caroms on Saturday in eleven innings with 27 points (13 and 14) in his last three innings. And on Sunday he went even a step further with 40 caroms in 10 innings and a run of 22 in the seventh. Markus Galla was his opponent on Saturday (40-12), Dustin Jäschke on Sunday (40-6).

The golden double is reminiscent of Dick Jaspers' debut for Magdeburg a few years ago. The Dutchman made the exact same start with wins in eleven and ten innings. At the airport of Düsseldorf, waiting for his flight to Barcelona on Sunday evening, Dani Sánchez looked back at an unbelievable weekend. ,,My form has been very good for several months, even before my World Cup victory in Guri'', he said. ,,I felt very strong in Ho chi minh city, in Porto and in Luxor, but just could not win.''

His playing style, Sánchez says, has changed a little this year. ,,More position play, aim to build up high runs, better speed, but mainly I play with much more confidence. That's why I get the feeling that I can be a better player than I ever was. I want to play three-cushion as I have never done before.''

Sánchez' team in Munich, where Marco Zanetti is the captain, leads the rankings after the double weekend in Germany. The Germans in the team with Zanetti and Sánchez are Hansi Schirmbrand and Christo Christodoulidis and for sure Munich wants to make a bid for the title. The Spaniard was hired in principle for eight matches. ,,That can be more if it's necessary.''

Both against Bottrop BA and GT Buer the leader won with the maximum score this weekend: 8-0. Magdeburg is the number two on the ranking. Marco Zanetti defeated Christian Rudolph on Sunday 40-24 in 21 innings. Dick Jaspers finished in his match for Magdeburg in sixteen innings, Dion Nelin in 24.

There was another striking result in Germany on Sunday. Daniel Schwerdtfeger, a player in the Sankt Wendl team in the 2nd bundesliga, played a 40-points match in 12 innings. Jérôme Barbeilome, the teamcaptain, told us: ,,He started at 11.00 and finished at 11.27, maybe this is a world record.''

The results of the fourth matchday in the 1st bundesliga on Sunday:

BC Magdeburg-BFr Sterkrade 6-2
GT-Buer Ravensburger BC 5-3
BCC Witten-Krefeld BG RW 2-6
Bottroper BA-BC Munich 0-8.
