The German A team advanced for the final rounds thanks to Steffan Galla.

VIERSEN - The Danish team with Tonni Carlsen and Michael Lohse heads the list of eight finalists after the preliminaries at the World championship for national teams in Viersen. The Koreans are second with their A-team ahead of Germany B and Belgium B. The quarter final matches, determined according to the ranking, are:

17.00:
Belgium A (Roland Forthomme and Eddy Leppens) plays against Belgium B (Eddy Merckx and Frédéric Caudron).
Denmark (Tonni Carlsen/Michael Lohse) meets Turkey (Tayfun Tasdemir/Tolgahan Kiraz).

20.00 pm:
Germany A (Martin Horn/Stefan Galla ) against Germany B (Torsten Frings/Ronny Lindemann).
Netherlands (Dick Jaspers/Barry van Beers) against Korea (Jae Ho Cho/Jung Han Heo).

The Belgian A team advanced as the eighth team for the quarters with a draw against Italy. Roland Forthomme lost his match on one carom against Marco Zanetti.

Germany A reached the final by two draws, against Egypt and the Czech Republic. Martin Horn lost both matches, against Martin Bohac and young Egyptian Sameh Sidhom 40-35 in 23 innings.

The German B team eliminated Spain in the group, among others thanks Torsten Frings' draw against Dani Sánchez (40-40 in 39). Ronny Lindemann defeated Ruben Legazpi 40-36 in 29 innings.

The nations ranking after the preliminaries, headed by Denmark with the maximum fame points and 1.758 average.
