Jef Philipoom saved his team when Martin Horn lost at the other table.

ZOERSEL - Yes, of course Martin Horn was tired after a tough weekend in the Agipi Masters. But wasn't it the same for Dave Christiani, who played for five days the pentathlon in the Netherlands and took the title on Sunday after a thrilling final against Henry Tilleman?

Whatever, the Dutchman was obviously the fittest and the best of the two last night: he won his match against his German opponent 50-33 in 24 innings. The fate of the team, that is chasing the main position of Biljart Express, was in the hands of his three teammates.

Jef Philipoom, Jean van Erp and Wesley de Jaeger saved the team with victories against Michel Camp, Huub Wilkowski and Luc de Coster. Jef Philipoom impressed with 50 in 25 innings and a run of thirteen. Wesley de Jaeger was the luckiest of the evening, he defeated Luc de Koster with only one carom.

The tension is growing on top, because BC Biljart Express wasted another important point. The Turnhout team played a 4-4 draw against BC Herentals. Frans van Kuyk won against Dion Nelin 50-39 (32), Martin Spoormans against Leon Smolders (42-35 in 38), but apparently stress is growing week by week for Gerwin Valentijn and  Guy van Litsenborg.

Valentijn looked at a backlog of five points at the end in his duel with Christian Rudolph, Van Litsenborg lost 42-37 (35 innings) against Geert Meylemans. The conclusion is that the difference between the numbers one and two of the ranking is only one point now with two more matches to play.

BC Deurne is still in top three. Without his key player Dick Jaspers, the team won 8-0 against BC Kasteeldreef. Davy van Havere, who had been passed for the team last week against De Ploeg, played the best match of the evening, with 1.562 and a run of eleven.

KBC Zanzibar defeated BC Lugo 5-3 with a regular victory of Roland Forthomme against Steven Buelens as best result (1.562).
