David Jacquet finished with a marvellous run and won the gold medal.

SCHILTIGHEIM - The best allrounder of the French championship had to bow for David Jacquet on the final day of the French championship. David Jacquet, the most surprising finalist from Oissel, defeated his opponent from Laxou in the 71/2.

After a marathon of one week, in which he participated in all disciplines, even in three cushion, Pierre Soumagne also was the big favorite to win the balk line 71/2. But the effort of 23 matches, spread over nine days, apparently weighed too heavily on the last part of the championship.

The two finalists did not play well at the start, David Jacquet did not and Pierre Soumagne could not find his rhythm too. There were a lot of mistakes, unusual for this level. Jacquet seemed restless and was left behind 215-127 after sixteen innings. Suddenly, however, Jacquet got balls under control and began slowly to score. He finished with an excellent run of 123.

Jacquet claimed his second title after 2006, before Soumagne, his opponent in his last final too. The podium was completed by the defending champion, Laurent Guénet and J. François Florent.

Guenet signed up for the best overall average, the best match average and the highest run with respectively 37.84, 83.33 and 175, but the gold was for David Jacquet, who shone at the right moment.
