David Martinez, amazing leader in PBA league, happy to play in Europe

BOXTEL/HAARLO - Top guns like Jaspers, Merckx, Caudron and Spanish ranking leader in the PBA, David Martinez, give the Dutch team competition (Buffalo League) the reputation again of best competition in the world this Sunday. The famous players are back: Jaspers after a short adventure in Mexico, the PBA players after the last tournament in the first season in Korea. The four top teams, SIS Schoonmaak, Prinsen, 't Hartje and Dallinga are back at full strength at the match tables. David Martinez is one of the most striking players. A special offer for all rounds in the Dutch three cushion league throughout the year: all matches can be watched, broadcaste live by kozoom.com. So, enjoy the Dutch league offer: starting at 13.00 on Sunday afternoon.

David Martinez (28) from Moncada, where he has his training room only two-minute walk from home, is happy to return to the Netherlands and play competition with the Ivoor team. "It is my only competition that I play in Europe," the Spaniard explains. ''The atmosphere among the teams is very good, so I am happy that I can play here. For now, I don't think so much about the separation between UMB and PBA, but I hope the parties come together again."

The unexpected top ranking in the Korean organization surprised him. ''I make more practice hours, but I am always motivated, so nothing changed in that way. But I could never have expected that it would turn out like this in my first year.'' In his training club, with four match tables, the PBA leader has to pay to play? David Martinez (laughs): ''I play during the club's hours, since my younger years. And no: I don't have to pay for it."

At the end of this month, Martinez plays a final tournament with the top of the PBA rankings. ''I still don't know if we start with the top 10 or more players to participate in that event." Certainly, he is one of those finalists as the frontrunner with Caudron and Filippos Kasidokostas.

The wonderful prize money of 115,000 euros over seven tournaments, the best of 128 players, will undoubtedly get a good destination. ''Before I went to the PBA, I just bought a new car. But hopefully it's gonna be a a wonderful new holyday location."

The leader in the Buffalo league, SIS Cleaning, is facing not the most tough opponent this weekend with a away match in Zeeland against 's Landswelvaren. The second last on the ranking comes with three Belgians to the start of whom Ronny Brants and Francis Forton are not to be underestimated opponents for Jean van Erp and Raimond Burgman. HCR Prinsen, the pursuer one point down from SIS, plays with Dick Jaspers and Eddy Leppens against Glenn Hofman and Ismail Yasin of team 't Hartje. They are the numbers two and three on the rankings.

David Martinezis the leader in 't Ivoor that plays a home game against Bousema Lochem. At Dekker Keukens-Dallinga, Ad Koorevaar and Gerwin Valentijn are meeting Frédéric Caudron and Jean Paul de Bruijn. Team Eekhoorn and DKM Tools and Team Eekhoorn play the home derby in ‘De Eekhoorn'.
