ROSMALEN - Jean Paul de Bruijn has prolonged his title in the Dutch championship one cushion. The 54-year-old player won six of seven matches and finished with 16,75 on average. The champion saved the best for last. In his last three matches, facing Sam van Etten, Michel van Silfhout and Jos Bongers, De Bruijn made the 100 points in 3, 3 and 2 innings.

The final against 22-year-old Sam van Etten, who was two points down with a less average, was the highlight. De Bruijn started with 83 and finished in the second inning with 17. The second and third on the podium were Michel van Silfhout, who also played an excellent tournament with 12,50, and Sam van Etten. Jos Bongers fell just outside the podium.

Michel van Silfhout played his 100th tournament as an honor class player in various disciplines. George Kenter made his promotion to the honorary class with 7,81 on average. Raymund Swertz, the champion two years ago, did not play, because he preferred a match in the three cushion league. Gert-Jan Velthuizen had to cancel due to an ankle injury.
