Diane Wild and referee coördinator André Chetard were at the Agipi Masters last weekend.

LAUSANNE - Three years ago now, the top of the world in three cushion was invited to the World championships in Lausanne. Diane Wild with her team were hosting an excellent organization. The Swiss lady, who is also a board member of the European federation (CEB) brings another great field to Lausanne on 15, 16 and 17 March: six world class players and two Swiss players.

The Lausanne Billard Masters, played in Casinio Montbenon, is a new event on the international calendar. Diane Wild invited six big names: Frédéric Caudron, Dick Jaspers, Torbjörn Blomdahl, Marco Zanetti, Martin Horn and Jérémy Bury.

Six players with an honor role of fourteen world titles and 44 European titles. For Switzerland, Michel Boulaz and René Hendriksen are added to the field.

The eight players are divided into two groups of four, the top two finishers will play the semi finals.

Diane Wild says about the motivation for organizing this tournament: ,,After the big success of the World championship 2009, I wanted to organize a new competition in Lausanne, which (I hope) we can organize each year. We don't have yet a contract with sponsors for next year, because that will depend on the succes of the first edition.''

The main goal is to promote billiards to a wide audience. ,,For me it is really important to attract spectators who don't know billiard yet. We must find new people from outside the billiard world, although that will not be easy It is important to the public interest, that billiards do not know. We need new spectators from outside the billiard world excited, even though it is not so easy.''

The organization has launched a wonderful initiative. Diane: ,,We have a nice action. For each point that is made in the tournament, our sponsor Merck Serono (Merck Division de Suisse SA) will pay 5 Swiss francs to the center of the multiple sclerosis in Lausanne. This money will be used to encourage people with the disease to practice a sport activity.''

The invitation has been send to six top players from different countries. Diane: ,,It is difficult to make a choice with so many top players, so you can always discus about that. But the important thing is to organize a tournament, of which we hope that it will grow in the future.''

The organization rafles 12 tickets for the good answers to three questions:

1 When was the World championship three-cushion in Lausanne.
2 Who is the French player who participates in the tournament.
3 Which player of the eight participants comes from Lausanne.
