Dick Jaspers and Glenn Hofman after their final match in the Rosmalen Grand Prix

ROSMALEN – There was only one moment when he could not show his supremacy, in the last Grand Prix in Amsterdam. Dick Jaspers cannot win them all, of course, but in the Grand Prix of Rosmalen, he was the best again today in the final match against Glenn Hofman.

He defeated his young rival, who was third at the European championship and played the final in Amsterdam as well against Barry van Beers.

Dick Jaspers closed the event with an easy win 40-31 in the final. He finished with an overall average of 1.958.

The full house in Sportfoyer De Hazelaar in Rosmalen witnessed a final which was in balance until nine innings (19-19). Then, Hofman made only two caroms in ten innings. Jaspers finished with eight at 40-21. Hofman started scoring in the equalizer, but the ten run was not enough: 40-31.

The winner was by far the best throughout the whole tournament. He dominated with matches all around two average.
He beat Jean van Erp in the quarterfinals after an amazing final sprint and then took his revenge in the semifinals in his match with Barry van Beers, the winner in Amsterdam.

Glenn Hoffman also could look back on an excellent tournament with victories in the final round over Jean Paul de Bruijn and Harrie van de Ven.

The final ranks of the Grand Prix with the averages of the top eight:

1 Dick Jaspers 1.958

2 Glenn Hoffman 1.396

3 Barry van Beers 1.207

4 Harry van de Ven 1.126

5 Jean van Erp 1.765

6 Jean Paul de Bruijn 1.652

7 Martien van der Spoel 1.203

8 Frans van Schaik 1.196
