Jean Paul de Bruijn returned from Hurghada in a very good shape.

MERKSEM - In the Hurghada World Cup, last weekend, Dick Jaspers fully admitted Frédéric (Caudron) was so strong that he didn't stand a chance. Three days later, in the Belgian league, the Dutchman took his revenge, he won and kept his team on top.

BC Deurne defeated his rival De Goeie Queue 6-2 in a race which had casted a long shadow in Hurghada. There, during the World Cup event in Egypt, Jan Peeters, one of Frédéric Caudron's fans, said: ,,This is just a warm-up, on Monday in Belgium is the real bump.'' It was not more than a joke, of course, but al those days the match in Belgium was talk of the town.

BC Deurne already took a 4-0 lead before the break in the home match: Jean Paul de Bruijn played a marvellous match (behind  Kenny Miatton the best of this playing round) against Peter Ceulemans, whom he defeated 42-20 in 16 innings (2.625 average). And Ludo Dielis is always a strong teammate when it really matters: he beat Roger Roefs 42-25 in 30.

So te score was 4-0 at halftime and the leaders, Caudron and Leppens, showed up for a tough mission to level te score. Eddy Leppens did his job and notched up thje win against Eddy Merckx 50-43 in 23, including a run of thirteen and 2.173 average.

But Dick Jaspers in his home match put on a display of control and position in his duel with Frédéric Caudron, running a 16 and 11 and at the end had a favorable margin: 50-43 in 25 innings.

That brought BC Deurne in the ranking one point ahead of De Ploeg, that played his match against KBC Kortrijk more than a week ago. De Goeie Queue finds himself after the loss four points behind the leader, the same score as BC Biljart Express, which won 5-3 against Mr. 100 Lier.

Guy van Litsenborg played 'at four' the best average, Kurt Ceulemans and Frans van Kuyk battled until the end in an attractive match, which ended 50-50 in 30 innings. Raymond Ceulemans was the only player who won for Mister 100: he defeated Martin Spoormans (42-33 in 38).

BC Herentals could join the main group, five points behind the leader BC Deurne, the rest of the teams need some really strong attacks to force their way to the top half of the rank. Herentals beat Biljartvrienden 5-3, amongs others thanks to an excellent Christian Rudolph: 50-37 in 25 innings against Anno de Kleine.

Zanzibar lost his promising position in top five by his loss against TBA Biljartpalace. Kenny Miatton crowned a great match with a victory over John Tijssen: the young Belgian won 50-19 in 19 innings. Raimond Burgman and Roland Forthomme played a draw in 41 innings.

De Witte Molen winded up the match against BC Quality with a win and a better position in the rank (6-2). Alain Clabots was the best of all with a win over Honoré Raemdonck (42-16 in 30).
