Dick Jaspers played a world class match: 40 in 10 innings.

ROSMALEN - Dick Jaspers has launched the Grand Prix in Rosmalen with a spectacular match. The Dutch number one defeated Albert Kooistra 40-8 in ten innings (average 4.000). Jaspers, who won the European Cup, the playoffs and the cup final with its team in two weeks, is the big favourite to record another win in this second Grand Prix of the season.

The last players who qualified on Tuesday for the main tournament were Ad Koorevaar, Raymund Swertz, Hans de Groot, Puck van Aart, Wim Pelders, Ludo Kools, Jack van Peer and Wim van den Berg.

Jerry Hermans, who was out for some weeks because of a serious knee surgery, wanted to play, but couldn't advance for the main tournament. He finished third in his group with one match point in two matches.

The matches today, Wednesday:

Dick Jaspers-Albert Kooistra, Wiljan van den Heuvel-Peter Vlaar, Dave Christiani-Herman van Daalen, Frans van Schaik-Kay de Zwart.

Later today, the winners meet the losers in their groups.

The final rounds of the tournament in De Hazelaar in Rosmalen are on Saturday.
