Dick Jaspers the best in 2016 World Cup cycle

Dick Jaspers celebrates his World Cup overall victory in Egypt

HURGHADA/EL GOUNA - The Dutchman Dick Jaspers (51) has won the 2016 World Cup trophy. He recorded the overall win fort he fifth time in his triumph for the fifth time in his career. In the Egyptian town of El Gouna near the Red Sea, Jaspers is unattainable for his competitors after two wins.

Frédéric Caudron lost his leading position by his lost in the first round. Jaspers overtook the Belgian and has 258 points now. Caudron remains on 254 points. The other positions on the final ranking depend on the matches which are coming up today and tomorrow in the World Cup in EL Gouna.

The World Cup trophy is the prize for the most regular player of the year. The ranking is calculated over seven World Cups with tournaments in Turkey, Portugal, Vietnam, France, Korea and twice in Egypt. Jaspers won this year's World Cup tournament in Bursa, Turkey. ,, I am very pleased with the overall win'', the Dutchman commented. ,,Winning the overall World Cup means you're the best player throughout the year. When I won it for the first time, I convinced the price as the most beautiful you could ever win in your career.''

Jaspers won the overall World Cup earlier in 1997, 1999, 2008 and 2010. The Dutchman is also triple world champion in three cushion.

In the World Cup in El Gouna Jaspers will play in the next round against Dani Sánchez, the reigning world champion.

With his victory in the World Cup cycle, Jaspers may play for the Super Cup in Antwerp on March 4 next year. His opponent there is the reigning world champion Dani Sánchez.
