Eddy Merckx leads ranking after one round

Eddy Merckx, highest average in the Netherlands

The Belgian former world champion Eddy Merckx is leading the ranking of averages after one round in the Dutch competition for teams. He has beaten Dick Jaspers in his first match for a new sponsor, TOVV.NL/MCR in Vlaardingen. The team of Merckx lost the match against the defending champion Van Donge en De Roo, because Torbjörn Blomdahl was beating Dave Christiani, Martin Horn won after a marvelous start the match against Richard Bitalis and Jean van Erp beat Emilio Sciacca.

On the individual ranking of averages Eddy Merckx leads with 2.380 before Martin Horn with 2.272, Torbjörn Blomdahl (2.083), Dick Jaspers (1.952) and John Tijssens (1.923).

The second round will be played on sunday the 5th of september. The program then is:

Delta/Fast Bouwservice-Dekker Keukens, De Vrachtkar-Snellen Recycling, Twentevisie-Van Donge & De Roo, TOVV.NL/MCR-Emar Logistics, A1 Biljarts-Crystal Kelly, DBL Holland Mineraal-Garage Verbrugge/Hyundai.

The teams of Snellen Recycling (8-0), Delta/Fast Bouwservice, Crystal Kelly and Van Donge & De Roo (all 6-2) started with a victory. The Belgian player Davy van Havere, who made his debut for Emar Logistics, made the highest run in the first round. He scored a fourteen against Addy Wienk.
