The team line-ups for the new competition with six teams

SEOUL - Two Belgian top players, two Spaniards and one Turk are at the start, Thursday 10th of September, for the first session in the team competition of the professional billiards organization PBA in South Korea. Six teams will show up with four men players and one lady. The Korean team league is played over a total of six tournaments. The European players are Frédéric Caudron, Eddy Leppens, David Martinez, Juan Zapata and Birol Uymaz, the other non-Koreans are Robinson Morales and Minh Cam Ma. Filippos Kasidokostas is missing in the line-ups, after the Greek didn't also play in the first individual PBA tournament at the start of July this year.

The PBA (Professional Billiards Association) organized its first individual tournament this year in early July with 42-year-old Seong-uk-Oh as the men's winner and 22-year-old Ye-eun Kim at the women. The first of six tournaments in the team competition will be played over five days, from Wednesday 10 to Monday 14 September. The venue is the same all these days: Sono Calm Goyang, in the Grand Ballroom hall. The six teams meet each other one by one, so in total three games every day. The European players were quarantined for 14 days after arriving in South Korea, as they did for the individual tournament two months ago.

The teams to be launched are Shinhan Investment, Welcome Savings Bank, TS Shampoo-JDX, SK rent-a-car, Crown Haitai and BlueOne Angels. The line-up of those teams is a mix of the most successful Korean players and the best Europeans in the PBA. Frédéric Caudron is the leading player of Welcom Savings Bank, Jung-ju Shin of Shinhan Investment, Dong-Koong Kang of SK rent-a-car, David Martinez of Crown Haitai and David Zapata of BlueOneAngels. Kasidokostas normally leads the TS Shampoo team, but has not arrived in South Korea, although in his area was said that he would leave for Korea for two months. The Greek himself is not available for comment.

The playing format per round starts with a men's double, followed by a men's single and women's single and finally a mixed double according to the Scotch double system. The men's doubles are not played in Scotch double. For a match win, a team is rewarded by three match points, a draw means for both teams one point. The line-ups per team must be announced one week in advance. The team leader designates the players for the order to play.

The first game on Thursday (Korean time):
12.10: Welcome Savings Bank-Shinhan Investmens
2nd: Crown Haitai-BlueOnes Results
3rd race, 22.30: TS JDX-SK rent-a-car.

2. Men's Double is played by K-Double rule. each player continues scoring until he fails to.

3. In the Mixed-Double of first day, Byung Ho Kim meets his daughter Bo Mi Kim.
As far as I know, first ever Father & Dughther match in professional carom competition.

4. Mr.Kasidokostas is passing this event (like last PBA Opening Tour last July) due to health issue.
PBA fans hope to see him in the next PBA Tour end of this month.

What a Success, even with “games hold behind closed doors with minimum staffs possible”.
