Nobuyashi Sakai, the surpise of the tournament so far.

The World Championship Artistic is getting close to its final stages, this evening at 1800 hours the quarterfinals will start. Eric Daelman (BEL), the former World Champion qualified due to a strong and needed win against Michael Hammen (FRA) this morning. The surprise of the tournament so far, Nobuyashi Sakai (JAP) remained unbeaten and is, according to the bookmakers, a candidate for the title. There's a good chance for him to qualify at rank 1 what automatically means that his next oppponent will be the one who'll qualify somewhere at the bottom of the ranking.

The flying Dutchmen Sander Jonen is currently overpowering all his opponents, 3 rather easy wins, including against the strong players Gumus (TUR) and Fonellosa (ESP), makes him the favourit to grab the title as well. Although Jonen has not been able to win the Dutch Championships for a few years now, he always show to be on his best during major tournaments. At the moment are Bernd Singer (GER) and Xavier Fonellosa fighting for a ticket to the quaterfinals.....2-2 in sets.

This afternoon the groups C and D will start their final matches:

13:00 hrs

Bax - Reverchon (LIVE)

Vijverberg - Ahrens

Watanabe - van Rhee

Tran - Yaman
