The eight players for the quarter finals in the Cuvino Superprestige are known. Eddy Leppens, together with Frédéric Caudron one of the organizers of the tournament, is not one of them. Jef Philippom also did not survive the group phase.
Frédéric Caudron is the number one in matchpoints (6) and number two in average (1.666) after his three matches in his group.The worlds number one has beaten Martin Spoormans, Jef Philipoom and Davy van Havere. Spoormans suprised by a victory against Jef Philipoom. The good old shared himself among the finalists.
The highest average was for Roland Forthomme, who noticed 1.676, although he lost his match against his friend Peter de Backer.
The highest runs were for Peter de Backer, Eddy Leppens and Davy van Havere. The all scored a run of twelve.
Davy van Havere again showed his good form. He played his first match in the Dutch competition on sunday and made a run of fourteen, the highest in the first playing round.
The next matches in the Superprestige are today. Frédéric Caudron will meet Ronny Brandts at 19.00 and at the same time Peter de Backer plays against Martin Spoormans. At 21.00 Eddy Merckx meets Roland Forthomme and Peter Ceulemans plays Francis Forton.
