French hegemony in preliminary rounds

The participants in the main tournament of the European championship.

CERVERA - The French delegation is playing a major role so far in the European championship in Cervera. Alain Remond, Xavier Le Roy and Bernard Villiers were unbeaten after three matches in their groups and Grégory le Deventec is after two matches without defeat.

Remond was one of the better players in the preliminaries with 15.63 average and a highest run of 56. He only was surpassed by Frédéric Caudron, who finished in his group with a triumph in seven innings this evening. The Frenchman Bernard Baudoin finished as second in this group.

Wolfgang Zenkner repared his unlucky start in the group against Arnim Kahofer with a 125-124 loss. With two victories he has won the Group A before Kahofer.

Xavier Gretillat won his three matches in Group B, averaging 13.89, second was Marek Fausse. José Tornero Albert finished behind Remond in his group. Joan Espinosa only lost his match against Bernard Villiers in Group D and is seeded for the quarter finals as well.
