SCHILTIGHEIM - The evaluation at the end of the evening is almost an illustrious tradition. The French referees, together with Jonathan Montel, who is the sportsdirector at the Agipi Masters, always gather after the matches for a friendly debriefing of the day. They raise a glass, discussing seriously about the tournament and the matches, but always with a big laugh and a sense of humour.

Most of the time it's Andre Chetard, the coordinator of the corps, who takes his characteristic black hat from the hatstand and gives the sign for going to sleep. Tomorrow is another tough day.

The French referee corps is a real group of friends, although one is living in Ozoir-la-Ferreir, near to Paris, the other from Metz, one from Saint-Dizier and Jonathan, for example, from Saint Mihiel. The Agipi Masters brings them all together, during the day at the billiards, after the matches in the hotel bar. Then there is some time to relax, the throats are flushed with a glass of champagne and they talk about about news in the world, but especially about billiards.

Frédéric Caudron against Marco Zanetti, then they say, that will be a beautiful match. Two players from the famous Agipi team against each other in their own room. Dick Jaspers against Filipos Kasidokostas is definitely a top match and what will Jérémy Bury do in the final stages, the young Frenchman who has so spectacular in the last qualifying round?

They look forward, the men in the nice black suits with there snow-white gloves. The best corps in the world, said one of the journalists, who visited the last Agipi tournament. Andre Chetard laughed and said: ,,That's not really the truth, I think, but I hope we're one of the best...''

Daniel Garonnat still keeps the video, on which the corps was interviewed by Kozoom in the arena of Agipi. The language was English, not the best in which they can express. They were put down at the first row of the stands and had to say a few words before the camera's. It was hilarious to look back, but it was an unforgettable reminder for them all.

The French corps is ready for the final stage. Jonathan Montel, the sportsdirector of Saint Mihiel, presents them:
The European qualified Andre Chetard (from Ozoir-la-Ferreire near Paris), Jean Paul Six (Laxou), Daniel Garonnat (Saint-Dizier), Jean-Louis Hayes (St Pierre des Corps) and UMB arbitrator Parviz Moshirpur from Metz.
The scorekeepers in the final matches: Eric Frees and André Richard from Club d'Eckbolsheim and Henry Fink from Club de Erstein.
