MUNICH/STUTTGART - The German team competition is going into half of the schedule with a double agenda this weekend. The ninth and tenth competition day starts with BC International in the lead with 18 points out of 7 matches, ahead of BC Munich with 16 and BC Magdeburg with 13 points. The two leading teams are in the battle for the autumn title in the double weekend, a mini prize in the German league.
For players like Dick Jaspers, winner of the Christmas tournament last week, Lütfi Cenet, Martin Horn, Dion Nelin, Nikos Polychronopoulos and other international top guns, the new year starts today with the matches for the bundesliga. BC International, with Horn and Polychronopoulos, sets off for two away games against BC Elfenbein Höntrop and Bottroper BA, BC Munich with Lütfi Cenet and Kostas Kokkoris plays at home against Sankt Wendel and BC Elversberg. BC Magdeburg with Jaspers and Nelin, the number three, meets Bottroper and on Sunday the last team in the ranking, BC Elfenbein Höntrop.
BC Munich is on second position after the 8-0 defeat in the last round against BC International and the 6-2 victory over BC Magdeburg. The Berlin team has the best chance to win the mini title. Dutchman Jean van Erp and Belgian Martin Spoormans have two remarkable matches ahead. Van Erp plays against Jaspers on Saturday and against Horn on Sunday, Spoormans against Horn on Saturday and against Jaspers on Sunday.
