BLANKENBERGE - Another title last night, in the balk-line 71/2 with the full match points, this morning he couldn't lose the championship in one cushion... Frédéric Caudron won three titles in three disciplines he played so far and won all his matches. ,,Good morning welcome to the Caudron show'', someone wrodt on the Kozoom chat in the early hours.

The three cushion final between Frédéric Caudron and Eddy Merckx, this afternoon at half past two, will close the marathon of eight days in the casino of Blankenberge, with many highlights in balk-line, one cushion and three cushion, especially by Caudron, but also due to all the others, who make a Belgian championship such a wonderful event.


The competitors of the Master, sometimes looked breathless to his matches and high runst, Philippe Deraes said for instance. ,,Obviously, we are far into the shade, but it's good that he is here and he performs at that high level. The one cushion titel was already in Caudron's hands before he played his last match against Maarten Janssen this morning, last night he added the title in 71/2 to his record list of championships so far.


He defeated Peter De Backer 250-64 in two innings and closed this discipline with eight match points, one thousand caroms, fifteen innings, averaing 66.66 and a highest run of 239, which he made in his duel with Patrick Niessen.


Peter de Backer, who doesn't practice the classic games throughout the year, finished on second place with five points, averaging 21.42. Patrick Niessen was third with four points and 26.53.


In the one cushion Caudron defeated Maarten Janssen 150-48 in ten innings this morning, which brings his total to eight match points, 600 caroms, 29 innings, averaging 20.68. Eddy Leppens finished second (9.79) before Maarten Janssen (5.36), Patrick Niessen (7.85) and Johan Devos (3.46).

Patrick Niessen had a wonderful best for last in his match against Eddy Leppens, who had finishd after ten innings. Niessen tied the match with a run of 68 in a great style. The two played an exciting match and equaled for one time the Caudron average.


Caudron could celebrate his seventeenth Belgian title in one cushion.
