Haeng Jik Kim captures his second world title for juniors

HOOGEVEEN - The 18 year old Korean player Haeng Jik Kim has captured his second world title for juniors in Hoogeveen. In the final he beated the Belgian Kenny Miatton in the mutual confrontation 3-1, averages 1.244/0.863. In the semis Kim showed his firepower with a win against David Martinez: 3-1, averages 1.567/1.277.

Haeng Jik Kim is the up and coming man in three cushion. The remarkable rise of this phenomenon was in 2007, when he was only 15 years and grapped his first world title. The young man is born in Suwon and recently lives in Mannheim. He plays competition in Germany as well as in the Netherlands.

The 2-fold world champion had only one tough match on his way to the final. Jens van Dam (Netherlands) made it pretty hard for the later champion, when he led 2-1 in sets and 8-3 in the fourth set. But then Haeng Jik Kim won the two deciding sets 15-11, 15-6, finishing with an average of 1.328.

David Martinez, the European champion, was held from the final by Kim in an amazing match, Kenny Miatton beated Ruben Fernandez Bernejo, who only played an average of 0.655 in that match.

The highest game average in The Worlds was for Kim with 1.567, the highest run for Glenn Hofman with 12.
