RANDERS - The Italian powerhouse at the European Championships 5-pins in Randers, Denmark, starts today (Saturday) with the knock-out matches for the last sixteen players. Four top Italian favorites will face among others six Danish home players, two Belgians, two French and two Germans in that final phase at the Vaerket arena. The Italians are ranked in the bottom table and could meet on their way to the finals.
The winner of the match between Michelangelo Anello and German Max Gabel, for example, will face the winner of Andrea Quarto-Erling Sjörup in the next round. And the winner of Paolo Marcolin-Johnni Pedersen will also meet in the last 8. The top schedule is reserved for three Danes (Rene Hendriksen, Henrik Söndergaard and Kasper Kristoffersen), two Belgians (Peter Debaes and Gianluca Memmi) and two French (Florian Guingand and Christoph Duyvernoy).
