NEW YORK - Javier Teran has won the USBA Open, the three-cushion tournament which was held in the Carom Cafe in New York. The Pan American champion from Ecuador defeated Hugo Pation from USA in the final 35-11 in ten innings with a final run of eleven. Glenn Hoffman was third in the standings.

Javier Teran ended up first in his group, where Glenn Hofman lost his two last matches against Teran (30-23) and Jensen (30-16). Hugo Patino won the other group stage and stayed unbeaten, second was Brian Yi. The two group winners met each other later in the final of the former Sang Lee tournament.

Glenn Hoffman, Allan Jensen, Hugo Patino, Mazin Shooni and Javier Teran belonged to the main stars in the marathon tournament, which started with seven groups. Therese Klompenhouwer, who won the women's tournament, made ​​an excellent impression among the the men, but could not reach to the final round.
