Mr. Jean Claude Dupont (UMB) reacts to the criticism of players.

HURGHADA - Jean Claude Dupont, president of the UMB (world federation) has responded to the criticism of players regarding the inscription for the World Cup in Hurghada.

He emphasizes that there is absolutely no talk of preferences and that the organization has done everything to follow the rules for the registration.

The explanation of the president:

,,I have also followed the perils concerning the UMB web site since this night. As you may know, we no longer use the services of Heiko Wolter and the web site is technically and provisionally administered by another person.

There were still some details to be changed at the invitation document and the person who is in charge now, has launched it on the web site at 1.59 p.m. Then the inscriptions were open.

After having consultated this IT specialist, I can say there are two elements that we cannot register:

1 The server where the inscriptions are done, is in Germany, but our technicians work from Egypt with another server and it is not excluded that there is a difference of one or two minutes between the two servers.

2 All persons who register, make this entry through their own server. The reaction and processing time is not necessary for all of the servers the same. There could be quite a difference in existence, one and the other may be dependent on the distance, the quality of the server and the manner in which one or more servers are connected to each other. In other words, if we both simultaneously send a message to the same third person, these messages are not necessarily simultaneously enter the computer of the third person.

Anyway, our computer where the program is running, keeps a list in a systematic order of time in which a ranking arises.

All night and part of the morning, Farouk Barki has forwarded these lists to the various players, who have complained, by which irrefutably established that this is the exact order in which the computer has received the registrations.

I do not have the necessary technical and computer knowledge to assess its accuracy, but at least the explanation seems very plausible. Moreover, I have no reason, how often I look at this lists, to doubt about: there has been no preferential treatment at all.

Both better and lesser players are the victim, both Germans, Dutch, Spaniards and Belgians.

Finally, I want to say this: After similar perils that we have experienced in Sluiskil and Hurghada in previous editions, we decided to protect a large number of highly ranked players a few days. We have done it now and so the numbers of vacant places of course are a lot smaller.

They are shooting arrows now to the 'player-tourists' who should not participate, but where is the limit? And isn't just this the success of the system?

The next deadline is 18 October, some of the current reserve players will undoubtedly have a good chance to enter the list of players.

A system based entirely on the number of points in the past, does not provide opportunities for new and young players. And that can not be the intention of the World Cups.''

Best Regards
Jean-Claude Dupont
