Jean Paul de Bruijn, one of the world's big guns in the one cushion discipline

ROSMALEN - The best one cushion player in the Netherlands can finally take a shot at the title in his favorite discipline this weekend. At the Dutch championship, which is played in De Hazelaar in Rosmalen this Saturday and Sunday (February 29, March 1), Jean Paul de Bruijn from Hulst is the undisputed favorite. The multiple European, Dutch and 1 time world champion leads the list of players with an average that far exceeds that of his competitors: 25.92. That was the national record average with which De Bruijn became champion last year in De Harmonie in Winschoten.

The 54-year-old 'Zeeuw', who is a player in the PBA competition in Korea since last year, starts the battle with players like Sam van Etten, whom he defeated in the final last year, Jos Bongers and Michel van Silfhout. One of the other favorites, Gert-Jan Veldhuizen, had to cancel due to a complicated ankle infection.

The participants at the Dutch championship:

Jean Paul de Bruijn (Hulst)
Sam van Etten (Schermerhorn)
Wiel van Gemert (Heel)
Michel van Silfhout (Animals)
Jos Bongers (Nijmegen)
Micha van Bochem (Kranenburg)
George Kenter (Aartswoud)
Dennis Timmers (Oss).
