Jean van Erp is chasing the title Mr. Grand Prix in Holland.

ZWAAG - On international level, Jean van Erp of course can't stand in the shadow of Dick Jaspers, but in the national Grand Prix circuit he is at least as good as the absolute master in three cushion this year. Jean van Erp has achieved two wins, Martien van der Spoel one in three Grand Prix tournaments so far, Dick Jaspers hasn't won one of them.

The world and European champion however is leading the ranking due to the system that is used for the cycle. Jean van Erp is second, Raimond Burgman third.

Today, in Zwaag the fourth Grand Prix of the cycle has started, to appoint sixteen players for the Masters tournament. The field of 32 players was reduced to 28, because four players have been canceled.

Jean van Erp entered the room in the early afternoon with the reputation of Mr. Grand Prix. He won his first match against Will Janssen 50-21 in 28 innings, one inning better than Dick Jaspers is his duel with Herman van Dalen (50-15 in 29).

Jaspers play in Group A with Dave Christiani, Peter Vlaar and Herman van Daalen. Jean van Erp in Group C with Jan Arnouts, Harrie van de Ven and Wil Janssen.

Dave Christiani had no the best start against Peter Vlaar, but won 50-45 in 54 innings. Jan Arnouts defeated Harrie van de Ven 50-46 in 45.
