Jef Philipoom is only one point away from the title with BC Deurne.

DEURNE - There is a chance that BC Deurne can celebrate the title tonight. The leader in Belgium won 6-2 against Koninklijke Kortrijkse last night. KBC Zanzibar, the only competitor in the race, can't afford himself a loss or a draw in hist away match against BC Quality Zele tonight. Jef Philipoom was the big hitter for the almost certain champion last night.

The former world champion, in 1995 Grubbenvorst when the professional players had chosen for the Werner Bayern circuit, scored in his match against Henk Blauwblomme runst of fifteen and twelve, so the 50-27 victory was never in danger. Eddy Merckx also won, although is twas with only two caroms against Ronny Brants (50-48 in 34). Davy van Havere took the maximum win for Deurne beating Richard Bitalis. Therese Klompenhouwer lost to Cédric Melnytschenko.

BC Deurne will watch the rival Zazibar more than normal interest in Zele tonight. Roland Forthomme is playing ther against Peter de Backer, Dave Chrstiani against Jean Paul de Bruijn, they know each other very well, the matches will be unpredictable. KBC Zanzibar knows in any case that they can't afford a misstep. If the team loses one point, BC Deurne is the new Belgian champion.

BC Geox Herentals, the number three, is no longer a real competitor. BC Kasteeldreef defeated the team 6-2 last night, thanks to victories of Frédéric Caudron against Dion Nelin (50-32 in 25) and Eddy Leppens against Leon Smolders (50-27 in 29). Leon Smolders saved the honor for Geox by beating Peter Duytschaever.

Mister 100 Lier booked a victory against BC Lugo (6-2), with a strong playing Kurt Ceulemans. The number two of the team scored a run of  thirteen against Henk Habraken. Peter Ceulemans defeated Martin Spoormans 50-44 in 33 innings, Raymond Ceulemans won his duel with Erik Hendrickx with only three points.

BC De Ploeg took the win in the important match Koninklijke Eeklose in the lower regions: 6-2. Martin Horn (also a run of fifteen) defeated Steven van Acker (50-28 in 24), Allan Lys Jensen defeated Leslie Menheer, Wesley Jaeger won the battle with Christiaan de Mil.

Koninklijke Eeklose and Op de Meir have been relegated definitely to second class.
