Jérémy Bury, third tournament win in a row, twenty matches unbeaten

LAXOU - The glorious run to victories of Jérémy Bury is still going on. The 35-year-old Frenchman, who starred with a win in New York this summer and was the best at the World Cup in Guri, continued his triumph march in his home country this weekend. He won the first season's national ranking tournament in Laxou by beating Eric Tromas in the final. The highlight of Bury's performance was his match in the quarterfinals against Marc Boigneres: 40-14 in 10 innings, averaging 4.000 with a run of 16.

,,I'm happy to have won, of course!'', Jérémy commented. ,,It was a good global performance, especially in the quarter final: good for confidence to play again an average of 4 with a run of 16. It could (and it should) have been even better, as I could have finished in 8 innings breaking the French record! And it's good also to see that I was the older player in the semi-final! Young french players have made a great tournament with good and promising performances.''

The absolute and implausible top form was rewarded after the World Cup in Guri with a ninth position in the world ranking. With three consecutive tournament wins, the French number one is unbeaten for twenty matches now: eight in the main event in New York, seven in the World Cup in Guri and five in the French national tournament in Laxou. Before these twenty wins, Bury also triumphed 11 times in the qualifiying rounds in New York. His last loss was a match in the qualifications against Hugo Patino, 35-26.

The tournament in Laxou indeed showed the power of the new French generation on the final day. Jérémy Bury (35) reached the semi finals with Adrien Tachoire (21), Eric Tromas (26) and Cédric Melnytschenko (28). For Eric Tromas, who's playing in the league for Laxou and with his wife expects his first child very soon, it was his first major success. The Parisian (Versailles) excelled by his fighting spirit in the final part of his matches in the semi final against Melnytschenko (40-39 in 30) and in the quarterfinals against Pierre Soumagne (40-38 in 41).

Jérémy Bury resisted the revelation of the tournament in the final with his experience, a solid, attacking and defensive tactics. The winner reached the final by beating Adrien Tachoire in the semi finals 40-24 in 27 and Marc Boigneres in the quarterfinals 40-14 in 10. In the qualifications, Bury bested Frédéric Roelants 40-19 in 20 and Alexix Rouaud 40-17 in 27. Bury's general average was 1.818.
