ANDERNOS - The two teams for the 'Final Four' in the French championship are known. The nrs. 1 and 2 are Soissons and Andernos. The qualified teams, on the fifth day of play in Group A gathered 8 match points and 27 game points. The average of Soissons is a bit higher with 1,398 against 1,355 for Andernos.

Soissons faced Laxou this week, which still had a small chance of qualifying. Martin Horn was missing for the home team, Jean-Paul de Bruijn was his replacement. The Dutchman lost to Jef Philipoom 40-28 in 30 innings. Mikaël Devogelaere restored the balance by dominating Antoine Mangin 40-8 in 26.

The match between Jérémy Bury and Torbjörn Blomdahl was the highlight of the day. A run of 11 by the Swede led to a 13-13 lead in 7 innings, followed by a run of 10 by the Frenchman, who took a 23-16 lead in 9 at the break. Another run of 13 by Bury increased that margin to 38-22 in 12 innings. Two innings later, Bury finished 40-26 in 14.

In the second session Pierre Soumagne won against Jérôme Riotto 40-19 in 26. Soissons thus won 6-2 vs Laxou, averages 1,542 for the hosts and 0,969 for the visitors.

In the Bassin de Arcachon, Andernos received the Douarnenez Novatlas team with the absence of Marco Zanetti and Gwendal Maréchal on the side of Andernos and Gregory Le Deventec on the side of Douarnenez. The only game won by the lower-ranked players in this group was that of Matthieu Franck against Michel Doré, notably thanks to a run of 10 of the player from Douarnenez at the end of the game: 40-30 in 41. Jérôme Barbeillon, in the first session, beat Vincent Lelièvre 40-18 in 23 (1,739). In the second session Dick Jaspers won against Francis Forton 40-13 in 18 and Léo Dubernet beat Kévin Vasseur 40-38 in 48.

Andernos won 6-2 against Douarnenez Novatlas, which will certainly occupy the 4th and last place in the group at the end of the championship.
