ISTANBUL - Raimond Burgman and Filipos Kasidokostas play the final in the European championship in Istanbul this afternoon (Turkish time, 12.30). The Dutchman is chasing for his first major, international success, Filippos Kasidokostas shined as a junior in world tournaments and won the world championships in Lausanne as a senior in a final against Eddy Merckx.
The Greek slipped through the preliminaries with a little luck, but was superior in his semifinal against Murat Naci Coklu this morning. The Turk apparently was not very good and sharp in the early hour of the match. Kasidokostas led the entire match, scoring 21-13 after eleven innings, 32-13 after fourteen and finished in twentieth inning at 40-20.

Raimond Burgman grabbed the lead in his match against Martin Horn with a run of eight in the seventh inning, which brought him to 16-4. He kept scoring regularly (19-27, 26-34, 32-38), but after two unlucky misses, the second on matchpoint, Martin Horn still got some hope 37-39.
On that score Burgman made his last point in the 28th inning. He raised his cue in joy, but in the tribunes Dick Jaspers even showed more emotion after his friend's and compatriots winning point.
