'King Kong and Little Devil' winners 6th PBA event

SEOUL - Korean player Dong-Koong Kang has won the sixth PBA tournament in Seoul in the final against Spaniard David Zapata. The score was 4-1 in sets in that match for the main prize of 77,800 euros. The winner, nicknamed King Kong, played 1,970 on average in the final and 1,577 overall in this tournament. In the ladies event, Ga-young Kim won by beating Ji-won Ryu in the final.

Due to the victory, Kang climbed up to fourth place in the 2019 standings behind the three European tournament winners. Filippos Kasidokostas (eliminated in the first round), David Martinez and Frédéric Caudron (defeated by Eddy Leppens in the quarterfinals) are 1, 2 and 3. The losing finalist David Zapata (1,549 in this 6th PBA tournament) is now 11th on the ranking. He is the 4th European. Eddy Leppns finished third in this tournament with an excellent average of 1,642. Gyeong-seop was the other number three on the podium. Frédéric Caudron was 5th with 1,734.

Ga-young Kim was the women's winner against Ji-won Ryu 3-1 in sets. The average of the winner was 0.804, of the loser 0.533. The number 1 received 11,600 euros, Ji won Ryu 3,700 euros, third place was good for 1,160 euros.

Ga-young Kim, nicknamed 'Little Devil Girl', started playing three cushion with her father when she was 12, but later switched to pool billiards. She is a professional player in that discipline from the age of 20 and is training 30 hours a week. She won silver two times in 9-ball at the World Games in Cali 2013 and Wroclaw 2017.

Jung-suk Lim, who played 0.396 in this tournament and won two previous tournaments, now became 32nd, but is still in the lead on the ranking.
