Kyung-Roul Kim in a great performance against Nikow Polychronopoulos.

SCHILTIGHEIM - Two Koreans, who are together in the tough group with Frédéric Caudron, treated the Agipi arena to a showtime this afternoon. Kyung-Roul Kim and Sung-Won Choi were showing some fireworks to the audience in their matches against Nikos Polychronopoulos and Jef Philipoom. The two Asians finished their matches both in only 19 innings.

Frédéric Caudron was no there when it happened. He will realize however that it's gonna be a hard fight for him in this group with these two dreaded opponents. The Koreans have four points now and played three matches, they are the leaders in the group in which Caudron played only two matches so far.

Sung Won Choi showed up a perfect demonstration against Jef Philipoom, which he left far behind by runs of thirteen (tenth inning) and twelve (14th turn). Kyung-Roul Kim got a lot more opposition in his duel with Nikos Polychronopoulos. The Greek flyer made two runs of ten, kept his chances in the match until 34-34 in 14 innings, but then saw Kim overtake him as a comet by 5, 2, 7, and 6 (47-34). Three innings later, the game was over.

In these days of the Agipi Masters was once again was clear how big the number of talents are in Korea. Two weeks ago a tournament was held with two hundred players. The winner was an unknown player, even the four semifinalists are not internationally known. Sung-Won Choi was the only who made it the quarter finals.

Kyung-Roul Kim was for years the leading player in his country with a top five position in the world. This position is no longer so sure, because in South Korea, he is the number three now. That means he will not play for his country at the World championship for teams in Vierssen, but Jae Ho Cho and Sung-Won Choi.

Tonight (22.00) the balls are rolling again in this group: Kyung-Roul Kim plays against Jef Philipoom. Frédéric Caudron against Polychronopoulos.
