Korean KBF/PBA agreement seems to fail

Korean chairman Nam will take his responsibility and said to resign

SEOUL - The agreement between two Korean parties, KBF (Korean Billiards Federation) and PBA (Professional Billiard Association) seems to be cancelled. The contract for a win-win deal in Korean billiards was signed in a hotel in Seoul in February this year. The agreement was now rejected by majority vote at a KBF meeting in Seoul. The KBF chairman Nam Sam-hyun, subsequently announced his resignation. That has been confirmed by sources in Korea.

The KBF meeting at the Olympic Park hotel in Songpa-gu, Seoul, was attended by 16 of the 18 delegates. Two members voted in favour of the agreement, 14 voted against. The initial agreement followed a conflict between KBF (one of the UMB federations) and the PBA. The cooperation had the intention to stimulate the joint development of billiards in Korea. A few weeks ago, the plans led to players protests. The discussion point was mainly about allowing to participate in PBA tournaments and the disciplinary measures against players.

The KBF initially stated that there was nothing against an agreement between UMB and non-UMB-related organizations, which expanded the exchange between registered players and increased the possibility of participation. After the overwhelming difference of votes at the KBF meeting, the observance of the win-win agreement with the PBA has been cancelled for the time being. President Nam said: "I will take responsibility for what happened." President Nam's sudden resignation caused big confusion in the federation.

My Comments

Sure Thing
The 7th (concealed) commandment, as per my note in "Mr. President's voice in times of Corona crisis", Posted by Frits BAKKER on May 11, 2020" (see below), is flourishing, now, and running, with no inflection, to the 9th commandment "Everybody will be happy".

To my korean friends: You must leave KBF and let those KBF delegates be the KBF. They must see and understand that they are "everything", the "all thing". Let them play by themselves. There is no more place for mr. farouk, with a "m" and a "f". There is only place for Mr. Farouk, with a "M" and a "F", the guy we used to love. There is only place for honor and commitment to the game. There is only place for great things. There is no place for petty red tape bureaucratic figures in the heart of the game. Long live the GAME. Long live the PLAYERS. Long live those, around the game and players, doing everything they can to protect the game and the players. Yes, we have a UMB. Yes, we have PBA. So, what? Why shouldn't we? Don't we deserve UMB and PBA? Why do we need to be punished by those bureaucratic figures? By what real authority?

Mr. Nam Sam-hyun: Thank You for your leadership. With great respect.

"The 9 commandments

Yeah, sure, FB-1. Yeah, obviously, FB-2. Hunky dory, FB-1. Peachy keen, FB-2.
The history will be written by the winners and here there's no need to uphold the rule of law.
Here is how things are going to unfold:

1. "Beloved Players" will wait.
2. "Beloved Managers and Writers", will wait.
3. The second virus (SARS-Co-2, Covid(ecember)-19) will go away.
4. The first virus (UMB-Co-1, Covij(uly)-19), will remain ("suspensions of players will remain valid") and we must not say that UMB Statutes art 22, nr 2 is unlawful.
5. Practice will flourish
6. Travel will resume.
8. Competition will resume.
9. Everybody will be happy.

PBA-KBF agreement
It seems the agreement has not failed yet. We have to keep our eyes on how it will develop.
The Players Committee in KBF has objected it to the KBF Office but still want to negotiate with PBA under its hegemony. What does it mean? What do they really want to get?

The first misstep done by KBF last year was expelling all the PBA/LPBA players overnight.
Around 400 players!
Typical paper administration ignoring the realities and new circumstances.

As result, KBF is left with less than 200 active players while PBA/LPBA secured over 400 players.
KBF already lost control power over billiard sports consequently.

Of course, UMB and Kozoom may be extremely concerned if KBF would bid farewell to UMB after successful agreement with PBA. Loss of favorite child and cash cow.

If billiard is in summer Olympic category, it could be different story.
But when it is not, Korean billiard community has no reason to respect IOC, WCBS structure.

I hope every party calms down and starts to be prepared for after-Corona sports-environment.

Thank You, man.
Thank you, "Inception". Wise words. South Koreans are resilient, tough , smart and honourable people. They can be outplayed for a while not seeing the all picture, but in the end they will win and they will write the history of this shameful UMB malpractice.
