Lütfi Cenet one step away from title after win

ISTANBUL - The Turkish billiard player Lütfi Cenet is one tournament away from the title in his country. In the Max Billiard Club in Istanbul he won the third of four tournaments for the Turkish championship three-cushion. Cenet now leads in the ranking before Savas Bulut, Adnan Yüksel, Murat Naci Coklu and Tayfun Tasdemir.

Lütfi Cenet played an excellent tournament in Istanbul, where he excelled in the final against Tasdemir. In the sixteenth final he defeated Erkan Yildirin 3-1 (1.218), in the eighth final Adem Ozcelik 3-0 (1.941), in the quarterfinals Uymaz Birol 3-1 (1.062), in the semifinals Murat Tüzül 3-1 (1.800) and in the final Tayfun Tasdemir 3-1 (11-5, 3-11, 11-4, 11-6, 2.117/1.625).

Tayfun Tasdemir walked the path to the finals with victories against Muammer Rahmet (1.833), Engin Maavis (3-0), Ahmet Alp (1.650), Volkan Cementipe (3-2, 1.500) and finally the loss in the last match against Cenet.

The men's tournament, played in the Max Billiard Club in Istanbul at 10 Platin tables, was played by 256 players. Lütfi Cenet finished with 1.740 overall average, Tayfun Tasdemir 1.553, Murat Tüzül 1.486, Volkan Cimentepe 1.013.

Murat Tüzül beat in the sixteenth final Adnan Yüksel 3-1 and in the next round Murat Naci Coklu 3-2 and 1.692 average. In the quarterfinals TÜzül played a top average (2.357 against Ufuk Kapusuz.

Gülsen Degener won the tournament for women, Omer Karaurt was the winner in the juniors category and Haci Arap Yaman was the best in the artistic discipline.
