Triathlon
OLONOUC - Twelve players, including the Spanish title defender Esteve Mata, will play the ANAG Billiards Cup 2012, an inviational tournament in three disciplines from 5 to 7 October. The tournament will be held for the second time in the Czech Republic, in the city of Olomouc with around 100.000 inhabitants at thirty kilometers from Brno.
The players meet in the disciplines balkline 71/2 (100 points), one cushion (100 points) and three cushion (15 points). Last year the tournament was played with six players, now twelve players are invited.
The Spanish title defender Esteve Mata has to beat more and stronger competitors than in the first edition. The Belgian Eddy Leppens, the Dutchman Dave Christiani and Frenchman Pierre Soumagne seem to be the main rivals.
Four groups of three players start off on Thursday - after the draw - for the qualifying rounds on three Gabriels tables. The two top finishers in each group qualify for the quarterfinals.
On Saturday at 13.30 the quarter finals will be played, on Sunday the semi-finals at 11.00, the final at 14.30.
